It's a question that weighed heavily on my heart after my mom was diagnosed with cancer. I was only fourteen at the time, old enough to understand what was happening but too young to really grasp the concept of death. I remember going to church with my family and sitting in the pews, listening to the sermon but not really understanding what the pastor was saying. I remember thinking, where is God in all of this? Why isn't He doing something to help my mom?

At the time, I didn't really have an answer to that question. I just knew that I was angry and hurt and I didn't understand why God was letting this happen. I think that's a question that a lot of people struggle with when they're faced with tragedy or suffering. Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people?

There's no easy answer to that question. I don't think anyone can say definitively why God allows suffering. But I do think that there is a purpose to it, even if we can't see it or understand it in the moment.

I think that, in the midst of our suffering, we can see glimpses of God's grace and love. We can see how He is working in our lives, even in the midst of darkness. And I think that, ultimately, that is what gives us hope. Because we know that, even though things might be tough right now, God is still with us and He hasn't forgotten about us.

So, where is God in all of this? I think He is right here, with us, in the midst of our suffering. He is walking with us, carrying us when we can't go on any longer. He is our hope and our strength. And He is waiting for us, on the other side of this, with His arms open wide.

What is the meaning of all of this?

There is no one answer to this question. It depends on each person's individual worldview and interpretation of life. Some people might believe that the meaning of all of this is to live a good life full of love and happiness. Others might believe that the meaning of all of this is to find a higher purpose or make a difference in the world. Still others might believe that there is no meaning to life and that everything is ultimately pointless. No matter what someone's beliefs are, everyone has their own unique way of looking at life and its meaning.

What is the point of all of this?

All of what? If you're referring to life, then that's a question that has been asked throughout history with no real consensus. Some people believe in reincarnation and that we keep coming back until we get it right; some people believe in Heaven or an afterlife where we are finally reunited with our loved ones; and some people believe that once we die, that's it, we're done. As for what the point of life is, again, there's no real answer. Some people believe in simply enjoying life and putting effort into making life joyful for all; some people believe in making a difference in the world through their work or deeds; and some people believe that life is ultimately pointless and we're just fooling ourselves.

What are we supposed to do in all of this?

We are supposed to do what is right. What is best for ourselves and for others. Sometimes that is easy to figure out and sometimes it is very difficult. There are no simple answer and we each have to figure out what is right for us. We need to take care of ourselves and our own problems first, but we also have to be there for others when they need us. We have to find a balance between taking care of ourselves and taking care of others.

What is the purpose of all of this?

The purpose of all of this is to learn and grow. We are here to explore and expand our consciousness, to evolve and become more. Everything that happens to us is happening for a reason, even if we don't always know what that reason is. Sometimes we have to go through tough times and make difficult choices in order to learn and grow.

There is no one answer to the question of what the purpose of all of this is. We all have our own individual purposes to discover and fulfil. But ultimately, we are all here to discover our true nature and potential, and to help others do the same.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is God?

God is with you, beside you, above you, and inside you.

Where is God when it hurts?

The Bible teaches that God reigns over the nations from His holy throne in heaven (Psalm 47:8; Isaiah 6:1, 66:1; Hebrews 4:16). Even though we know that God’s presence is in some sense uniquely in heaven, the teachings of Scripture also make it clear that God is omnipresent (present everywhere at the same time).

Is God’s presence uniquely in Heaven?

No, God’s presence is not uniquely in Heaven. While God’s presence is certainly more evident and pervasive within the context of Heaven, God's presence is also omnipresent.

Where is God in the Bible?

God is in the same place he was when he gave you thousands of good days and nights - he's testing you, rescuing you perfectly.

Why should the Nations say “where is their god?

The nations don't have a god because they are wicked. Genesis tells the story of how God originally created humanity in his own image, and then gave them a universal mandate to rule over the earth (Genesis 1:26–28 ). But regardless of people's actions, God remains faithful to his covenant with Abraham and will eventually redeem them ( Romans 11:25 ). So even though people may act wickedly, God never completely disowns them and still desires their love and good deeds.
