What was the weather like?

The weather was like any other day. The sun was shining and the sky was blue. There was a slight breeze that made the trees sway back and forth. The temperature was comfortable, not too hot and not too cold. Perfect weather for a relaxing day.

What were you doing?

Assuming you would like a written response about the question, "What were you doing?":

I was doing a lot of things. I was taking care of my family, working hard at my job, and spending time with my friends. I was also doing some things that I enjoy, like playing sports and reading. I was doing what I could to make the best of every situation.

What did you eat?

I had a really great day today! I woke up early and went for a jog, then came back and made myself a delicious breakfast. I had some scrambled eggs with cheese and a slice of toast. For lunch, I had a yummy turkey sandwich with some grapes on the side. Dinner was even better – I made a big salad with lots of veggies and a delicious vinaigrette dressing. I also had some grilled chicken with it, and it was so good! I'm really looking forward to tomorrow because I get to eat all of this good food again!

What did you wear?

There's no question that what we wear reflects who we are and what we're about. Our clothes can show the world what we're thinking, feeling, and doing - whether we want them to or not. And while we may not always be aware of it, the way we dress often sends strong messages to those around us.

So what did you wear today? Was it something comfortable and relaxed, or something more structured and formal? Perhaps you were dressing to impress, or maybe you just threw on whatever was clean and available. Whatever you chose, your outfit says something about you.

Let's take a closer look at some of the things our clothes can communicate.

Confidence

The way we dress can show how confident we feel. If we're comfortable in our own skin and like what we see in the mirror, we're more likely to dress in a way that reflects that. We'll wear clothes that make us feel good, and we won't be afraid to show off our best assets.

Conversely, if we're not feeling so great about ourselves, we might try to cover up with baggy, shapeless clothing. We might avoid colors and styles that attract attention. Or we might wear clothes that are overly revealing in an attempt to compensate for our lack of confidence.

Whatever our reason for doing it, when we lacking in confidence, it shows - in the way we dress and in the way we carry ourselves.

Mood

Our clothes can also give clues about our mood. If we're feeling happy and carefree, we might dress more casually. We might choose brightly-colored clothes or clothes with fun patterns and prints. Our goal is likely to simply enjoy ourselves and have a good time.

On the other hand, if we're feeling sad or down, we might dress in a way that reflects that. We might wear all black, or clothes that are tighter and more constricting. We might even dress in a way that's sloppy or unkempt, as a way of signaling that we just don't care.

Again, our choice of clothes can give those around us a pretty good idea of how we're feeling - even if we're not intending to send that message.

Attitude

Our clothes can also communicate our attitude - whether we're approachable or unapproachable, easy-going or uptight.

If we want

What did you read?

I read a lot this year. I read for pleasure, for work, for school, and for research. I read books, articles, blogs, and even the occasional twitter thread. I read on my phone, on my computer, and in physical books. I read fiction and non-fiction, long form and short form, and pretty much anything in between.

This year, I read a lot of books that I loved. some of my favorites include: The perfect Nanny, by Leila Slimani, The Sun and Her Flowers, by Rupi Kaur, and An American Marriage, by Tayari Jones. I also read a lot of books that I didn't love as much, but that I still found interesting or thought-provoking, like: White Tears, by Hari Kunzru, So You Want to Talk About Race, by Ijeoma Oluo, and Exit West, by Mohsin Hamid.

I think one of the most important things I read this year was Ta-Nehisi Coates' between the World and Me. It's a letter to Coates' son about what it means to be black in America, and it is absolutely brutal. It's also one of the most beautiful and powerful things I've ever read.
