We've had the privilege of working with the Worshipful Company of Management Consultants, a professional peer group that's been making a real impact in the City of London and the consultancy industry.

Founded in 1992, WCoMC is a modern livery company that's built up an impressive record in philanthropy, helping non-profit organizations through pro-bono consultancy, mentoring, and a charitable fund.

The company contributes to the education and professional development of management consultants, and its members support and learn from each other through fellowship at formal and informal events.

WCoMC has achieved remarkable growth, with over 500 member records and 300 client records, and an exponential increase in contact records to a total of 7000.

They've also sent over 1100 mailings/newsletters, held over 450 events, registered over 8000 event participants, and completed over 2100 financial transactions.

Their website is continually updated, and they've enhanced their membership system with new online connection forms, GDPR functionality, and changes to support their new finance system.

Needs and Challenges

We've worked with many organizations over the years, and one thing that's clear is that every business has its unique needs and challenges.

One organization we've had the pleasure of working with is Millertech, who partnered with the WCoMC over 10 years ago. They recognized that their legacy membership system and spreadsheets were not scalable and would be administratively costly.

Their key goals and challenges were centered around growth, service improvement, and cost reduction. They wanted to develop and grow their membership and client contact, improve services, drive engagement, and manage events while reducing costs.

Here are some of the specific challenges they faced:

  • Developing and growing both their membership and client contact from a base of 200 members and 100 clients.
  • Improving the services offered to their members.
  • Driving engagement with existing and prospective members.
  • Managing additional events whilst reducing costs by implementing a less manual process.
  • Reducing finance and administration costs through better integration.

It's clear that WCoMC recognized the importance of having a system that would grow with their organization, be flexible to incorporate future enhancements, and deal with legislative changes.

Events and Competitions

The Worshipful Company of Management Consultants hosts a number of annual consulting awards, including the Urwick Cup.

The Urwick Cup is a prize handed to consultants and their partners for outstanding research or thought leadership. The research must have originated recently in the UK, and been published in the last two years, while being relevant to management consultancy.

The closing date for entries to the Urwick Cup is 30th September 2020.
