Brian Niccol became the CEO of Starbucks in 2023, marking a significant shift in leadership for the global coffee giant.

He took over the role from Howard Schultz, who had been the CEO since 1987 but stepped down in April 2022.

The leadership change came after Schultz announced his retirement, paving the way for Niccol to bring his expertise to the company.

Niccol's background in the fast-food industry, particularly at Taco Bell, brought a new perspective to the Starbucks leadership team.

Niccol has a strong background in the food industry, having previously led Taco Bell and held roles at Pizza Hut and Procter & Gamble. He's expected to bring a transformative leadership style to Starbucks.

Niccol will officially take over on September 9.
