Researchers will use computer modeling to determine which policies, regulations, and market development tools will help Vermont reach its short-term goals. By doing this, stakeholders will have a better understanding of what expanded solar deployment will look like in Vermont under multiple scenarios.

The project team is considering three scenarios, including a business-as-usual scenario and an alpha scenario that specifies the type and level of Vermont's solar market development within five and ten-year horizons. This will help identify the necessary investments and project development needed in solar photovoltaics.

Two Vermont energy organizations, Vermont Energy Investment Corporation (VEIC) and the Biomass Energy Resource Center (BERC), have joined forces to advance sustainable energy in Vermont and beyond.

BERC has been helping communities, governments, and institutions make the most of their local biomass energy resources since 2001. Their mission is to achieve a healthier environment, strengthen local economies, and increase energy security through sustainable biomass energy systems.

VEIC will continue to focus on the use of woody biomass and other biomass fuels for thermal and electrical energy, and will leverage BERC's national leadership in community-scale biomass district energy, institutional wood heating, and sustainable management of biomass resources.
