Location and Operations
Thimble Island Brewing Co is located in Branford, CT, where it was established in 2010 by a group of beer enthusiasts.
The brewery was initially a small operation, with just three employees, including general manager Dave Morgan, who made beer in their spare time.

It takes the team about six hours to brew an eight-barrel batch, which is then fermented and aged for up to a month before being packaged in kegs and bottles.
The brewery has undergone significant expansion since its early days, with the original space growing six times its original size.

During the pandemic, Thimble Island expanded their new space, which is now huge and features large patios for outdoor seating.
You can still find Thimble Island Brewing Co in the same business park where they first started, but don't expect to see any actual Thimble Islands there.
In 2024, the brewery opened a second location brewpub in Old Saybrook, which unfortunately closed just a few months later in January 2025.
