Samoa Breweries has been expanding its product line in recent years. They now offer a wide range of beers, including their popular Fasitoga and Vailima brands.

Their business ventures have also been growing, with the company investing in new equipment and facilities to meet increasing demand. This has allowed them to increase production and supply more beer to local markets.

The company's focus on innovation has paid off, with their new product lines and ventures helping to drive growth and success. This is a testament to their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Their commitment to quality is evident in the high standards they maintain in their production processes, ensuring that every beer meets their strict quality control standards.

Beer Products

Samoa Breweries is home to the original beer of Samoa, Vailima, which was first introduced in 1978 and has since become iconic across the islands.

Vailima is a german-style lager that can be found in most supermarkets and bars, a testament to its popularity.

The brewery can be found in Vaitele, but unfortunately, it's not open for brewery tours.

Taula Beer, a direct competitor to Vailima, has been brewed in Samoa since 2012 and now dominates the Samoan beer market with approximately 70% of market shares.

You'll have no trouble finding Taula in bottles, cans, or on tap, as it's widely available.

Vailima Gold is the latest addition to the Vailima beer family, introduced by Samoa Breweries as a low-carb, full-flavor lager beer.

It has an alcoholic strength of 4.1 percent and is currently available on draught at several bars and restaurants.

Initially, Vaila Gold will be available only in draught, but it will also be sold in 355ml glass bottles starting in November.

Business Decisions

Samoa Breweries Ltd has made the decision to cease production of Vailima beer by the end of October 2022.

The company's management has been working hard to minimize supply distribution and look after their employees during this transition.

The brewery is currently producing at maximum capacity to supply Samoa with Vailima for the months of October and November this year.

A total of 24 staff members will be directly affected by the planned closure, although this number has been reduced from 50 as more staff were able to secure roles and be retained.

The company is offering generous redundancy packages to the affected employees as a thank you for their incredible service over the years.

Paradise Beverages Limited, the majority shareholder of SBL, had always intended for production to remain in Samoa, but it seems this isn't possible in this case.

The brewing of Vailima will be done locally by Charlie Va'ai and Beatrice Ott once their operation in Samoa is set up.

A Man's Beer World Quest

As I embarked on my Beer World Quest, I had the chance to try Vailima Beer, the original beer of Samoa. The signature brew of Samoa Breweries has been flying into the hands of Samoans since 1978.

Vailima is a German-style lager, likely due to Germany's colonial influence on the islands. I've tried it in most supermarkets and bars across the islands, and it's become a staple among locals and visitors alike.

The brewery can be found in Vaitele, but unfortunately, it's not open for brewery tours.

New Product Launches

Samoa Breweries has just launched a new addition to the Vailima beer family, Vailima Gold. This low-carb, full-flavor lager beer has an alcoholic strength of 4.1 percent.

Vailima Gold has been months in the making, with the Vailima Brewing Team working tirelessly to perfect its brewing processes. The team aimed to create a true low-carb beer with a full body of flavor.

Initially, Vailima Gold will be available only in draught, but it will become available in 355ml glass bottles in November.
