Ronald Lyon, affectionately known as 'Tiger', was born in Creswick in 1920. He was educated at the Geelong Junior Technical School, Geelong High School, and the Gordon Institute, where he graduated as an architect.

Ron Lyon's family moved to Geelong when he was a child, and he commuted to Melbourne to work in the offices of Edward Billson and Frederick Romberg in the late 1930s. He was an architecture student at the time.

In 1941, Lyon enlisted in the AIF and served as a lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers in New Guinea, before completing his course.

After returning from the war, Lyon obtained registration and became a member of the RVIA, and later worked for Maxwell Fry and Jane Drew in London in 1949.

Ronald Lyon married Marietta Perrott, daughter of Leslie M Perrott Sr, who worked in her father's firm as an architecture renderer and illustrator.

Leslie M Perrott Junior, known as Les Perrott, graduated in 1951 and expanded the office to take part in the postwar boom.

He became lead architect of the firm, along with Ron Lyon, after his father's retirement in 1966.

Leslie Jnr was instrumental in designing the Forest Hill Shopping Centre.

Ronald Lyon was awarded an AM in 1984 for services to the community and his profession.

Marietta Lyon passed away in 2003, followed by Ronald in 2006.
