Otter Media is a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, acquired in 2012 for $1 billion. The company has been a key player in the digital media landscape ever since.

In 2023, Otter Media made a significant move by launching a new streaming service, Hulu with Live TV, which offers a range of live TV channels and on-demand content. This move reflects the company's continued focus on innovation and expansion in the digital media space.

The company's acquisition of Crunchyroll in 2021 has also been a major highlight of 2023, with the anime streaming service continuing to grow in popularity and reach a wider audience.

AT&T has acquired The Chernin Group's stake in Otter Media, giving it majority ownership of Fullscreen, Crunchyroll, and Rooster Teeth.

Otter Media was formed in 2014 through a $500 million investment by AT&T and The Chernin Group as a venture to buy, invest in, and grow digital media businesses.

The company's portfolio of properties now reaches over 93 million monthly unique viewers and is expected to reach 75 billion video views this year.

Otter Media operates Crunchyroll's parent company Ellation, and also has ownership stakes in Gunpowder & Sky and Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine.

Tony Goncalves, an AT&T executive, was appointed CEO of Otter Media earlier this year and will continue to run the company under AT&T.

John Stankey, CEO of AT&T's new WarnerMedia division, is excited to incorporate the Otter Media brands and talent into WarnerMedia, aiming to harness Otter's expertise in feeding the passion of online audiences.

The Chernin Group's Peter Chernin believes that AT&T can accelerate Otter's growth, and that the combination with WarnerMedia will create a new-era media company serving customers with every type of content delivered through every possible distribution channel.

Otter Media's portfolio includes digital-media company Fullscreen, which aggregates YouTube channels and counts 4,500 creator partners.

Fullscreen started out as a multichannel network and has seen a significant decrease in creator partners from 75,000 three years ago to 4,500 today.

The company's subscription VOD services have more than 2 million paying customers.

Otter Media also includes Ellation, an online subscription video service provider that operates the Crunchyroll anime service.

Crunchyroll has a significant following, with Otter Media's properties currently reaching more than 93 million unique monthly consumers.

VRV, which sells OTT channels a la carte and in a bundle, is another part of Otter Media's portfolio.

Rooster Teeth, a digital-content studio and video network, is run as an independent subsidiary of Otter Media.

It's worth noting that Rooster Teeth was previously a division of Fullscreen before being spun off as an independent entity.

Otter Media has ownership stakes in studio startup Gunpowder & Sky and Hello Sunshine, a media company founded by Reese Witherspoon.

The company's properties are on pace to deliver over 75 billion video views this year.
