Loreal has issued a voluntary recall of certain La Roche-Posay products due to concerns over benzene contamination.
The recall affects a limited number of products, including Anthelios Melt-In Sunscreen Milk and Lipikar Balm AP+.
Consumers who have purchased these products are advised to stop using them immediately and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

L'Oreal has had to recall several of its products due to various reasons. The La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo acne treatment was recalled in the U.S. due to the presence of benzene, a known carcinogen.
L'Oreal's decision to recall the product also enables a seamless transition to a new and improved Effaclar Duo formula, which has been in development since 2024.
The recall was prompted by a report from independent laboratory Vailsure, which found that benzoyl peroxide-containing acne treatment products can contain over 800 times the limit for benzene set by the FDA.

Multiple news outlets have reported on the recall, but L'Oreal S.A. has not shared a press release on the affected product or what customers should do if they have it at home.
In addition to the La Roche-Posay recall, L'Oreal's Mizani brand also recalled its 25 Miracle Cream Leave-in Conditioner due to potential contamination with Burkholderia cepacia complex.
This bacteria poses little medical risk to healthy people, but can cause respiratory infections in those with certain health problems.

Reason for Recall

L'Oreal cosmetics have been recalled in Portugal due to the presence of a banned ingredient.

However, it appears that the company has not been able to demonstrate the recall of all non-compliant products in the entire national market.
