Indigo Airlines Managing Director Key Leadership Roles and Changes

As the Managing Director of Indigo Airlines, Rono Dutta has held a number of key leadership roles within the company.

Rahul Bhatia, the Co-founder and Promoter of InterGlobe Aviation, was appointed as the Managing Director of IndiGo with immediate effect.

Pieter Elbers will replace Ronojoy Dutta as IndiGo CEO from October 1.

Bhatia's agenda as Managing Director will focus on expanding the airline's presence in India and international markets, and building for the long term.

Elbers is currently serving as the president and CEO of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and his tenure at IndiGo will begin on October 1.

Ronojoy Dutta has decided to retire on September 30, and will be leaving the airline in good custody of Elbers.

The Board of Directors of IndiGo has approved the appointment of Pieter Elbers as the chief executive officer, subject to necessary regulatory and shareholders' approvals.

Bhatia thanked Dutta for effectively leading the company during his tenure, which spanned almost four years through turbulent times in the airline's history.

Elbers said he is delighted to become part of IndiGo's next stage of journey, further fulfilling the vision of what the airline can do and will be for its customers and India.

The airline has witnessed a slew of resignations from top-level executives, including Chief Commercial Officer Willy Boulter and Chief Financial Officer Jiten Chopra, who left earlier this year.
