Frakktal Selected for Investment Accelerator

The program invests $100,000 each in the best and brightest startups tackling the challenges of sustainably feeding and powering a growing planet.
The accelerator kicked off on October 13 with five participants in its inaugural cohort, including Frakktal, ShipShape, MiFood Robot, MicroMGx, and AgTechLogic, which were recruited from around the world.
Frakktal was founded by Jhana Porter to develop biobased materials built from plant and agricultural leftovers, specifically a PVC replacement for use in the built environment.
The program will conclude on December 15, with a showcase event at HudsonAlpha, highlighting each of the five start-ups, where founders will have the opportunity to pitch their companies to investors, community partners, and the public.

My Decision to Go
I was initially hesitant to apply for the HudsonAlpha AgTech Accelerator, having already been in a couple of accelerators before.
But the more I learned about the program, the more I was drawn to it. I was excited about the opportunity to immerse myself with like-minded entrepreneurs, which is exactly what I got.
The accelerator's location in a state that's a leader in peanut production and poultry was a big plus for me.
I did my due diligence by reaching out to previous cohort members and talking to several of them before committing. Getting on a phone call was crucial because emails don't provide the same ability to pick up tone and subtleties from speech.
The prestige and alignment of HudsonAlpha, a genomics institute that's mapped out many plant genomes and works in the human health space, was a huge influence on my decision to go.
