Katniss' true feelings for Peeta are a bit of a mystery, even to herself. She's not sure if she truly loves him, or if she's just grateful to him for saving her life. She knows that she's attracted to him, but she doesn't want to be. Katniss has seen what love does to people; it makes them weak and vulnerable. She doesn't want to be like that. However, there are moments when she can't help but feel drawn to him. She's confused and conflicted about her feelings, and she doesn't know what to do.

Katniss is also aware of the Capitol's secrets. She knows that the Hunger Games are all a big sham, and that the people who are supposed to be helping the districts are actually just using them for their own gain. She's seen the poverty and hunger in the districts, and she knows that the Capitol is responsible. She's also seen the way the Capitol treats the tributes, and she knows that they're nothing more than pawns in a game. However, she's sworn to keep all of this to herself. She doesn't want to be a part of the Hunger Games, and she doesn't want to help the Capitol.
