PPC to Issue €32m Payment Order

PPC is about to issue a €32m payment order to Halyvourgiki after condemning the steel producer for breaching its agreement with the electricity corporation.
The payment order comes after PPC ceased representing Halyvourgiki as an electricity supplier and criticized the company for continuing to benefit from lower-cost tariffs despite not producing steel or related products since 2015.
PPC claims Halyvourgiki's owner, the Aggelopoulos family, has been leasing the enterprise's steel production plant to a third party for gas liquefaction purposes.
A favorable court decision allowed PPC to disrupt its electricity supply to ELFE, a fertilizer and chemicals producer, which drew the company to the negotiating table with proposals.
PPC is also working on an industrial tariffs study demanded by the country's privatization fund, which will aim to maintain discounts and introduce certain hikes.
The power utility is seeking to resolve its debt issues with major debtors, including Larco, which owes PPC over €300 million.
Larco has agreed to cut its output by 20 percent, but a new payback program for its debt is still pending.
