The Europorte Channel has a rich history, dating back to the 1960s when it was first established as a rail freight operator in the UK.
The Channel Tunnel, also known as the Eurotunnel, was opened in 1994, providing a direct rail link between England and France.
Europorte Channel has been operating trains through the Channel Tunnel since its opening, offering a reliable and efficient way to transport freight between the two countries.
Today, Europorte Channel operates a fleet of locomotives and carriages, transporting a wide range of goods, including containers and project cargo.
History of Europorte Channel
Europorte Channel has its roots in 2008, when it operated 2718 trains in France and 878 trains through the Channel Tunnel.
The company's fleet at that time was quite small, consisting of just eleven British Rail Class 92 locomotives and one Alstom Prima electric locomotive.
In December 2008, Europorte 2 was renamed Europorte Channel, following the acquisition of Veolia Cargo France.
Operations and Management
Europorte Channel has a strong presence in rail freight operations. In 2009, the company acquired Veolia Cargo's French rail freight operations, renaming Europorte 2 to Europorte Channel during the absorption period.
Europorte Channel has partnerships with major players in the industry. In 2007, the company collaborated with the Port of Dunkirk to operate trains from Dunkerque to the Delta 3 logistics terminal at Dourges.
Europorte Channel operates the Port of Dunkirk's railway system, a contract obtained by Eurotunnel in 2010. This contract was carried out by Europorte Services, a new organisation established by Eurotunnel.

Traction and Stock
The Class 92 locomotives were built by a consortium of Brush Traction and ABB between 1993 and 1996.
Forty-six locomotives were initially split between Railfreight Distribution, SNCF, and British Rail European Passenger Services for operations through the Channel Tunnel.
Initially, Railfreight Distribution and SNCF had a significant number of Class 92 locomotives.
The locomotives attached to London & Continental Railways were for operations of the Nightstar international sleeper services.
However, the introduction of the sleeper services was delayed and then cancelled.
Eurostar International offered its seven Class 92 members for sale in 2000.
The locomotives were decommissioned and stored at Crewe Electric TMD after no immediate buyer could be found.
In 2007, Eurotunnel purchased the seven Class 92 locomotives from Eurostar International for £2 million.
Eurotunnel's fleet of Class 92 locomotives grew to sixteen after purchasing five more from SNCF in 2011.
The Class 92 locomotives were a key part of Eurotunnel's operations, used by Europorte 2.
