Attribute-Based Pricing and Configuration is a powerful feature in D365 Finance and Operations that allows you to assign specific attributes to batches of products, enabling more accurate pricing and configuration.

This feature is particularly useful for companies with complex pricing structures or those that need to accommodate various product configurations. It streamlines the process of managing different product variations and ensures that the correct pricing is applied.

By enabling batch attributes, you can create a more efficient and scalable pricing system that adapts to changing market conditions and customer needs. This can lead to increased revenue and improved customer satisfaction.

In D365 Finance and Operations, batch attributes can be assigned to batches of products during the production process, allowing for real-time pricing and configuration updates.

To enable batch attributes in D365 Finance and Operations, you need to assign them to a released product. This can be done by navigating to Product information management / Products / Released products, clicking on Manage inventory, and then selecting Product specific.

You'll then have the option to choose from Attribute codes: Table, Group, or All. Table gives you the option to specify an exact batch attribute, Group allows you to pick a batch attribute group, and All makes all batch attributes available to be assigned to a batch number.

For example, if you've created a batch attribute group called "Paint param", you can assign it to a product, such as item A01.

Assigning Attributes is a crucial step in enabling batch attributes in D365 Finance and Operations. To create new batch attributes, navigate to Product information management / Setup / Categories and attributes / Batch attributes.

We have 5 types of attributes: String, Integer, Fraction, Enumerate, and Date. For our case, we'll pick Enumerate type, name it "Paint thickness", and assign some values. To do so, click Attribute enumerate values and create 4 records that represent some ranges of thickness.

To assign batch attributes to released product, navigate to Product information management / Products / Released products and from Manage inventory tab click Product specific. Inside product specific form, pick A01 item and assign previously created Group called "Paint param.".

For example, if you've set up a batch attribute called "Paint thickness" with Enumerate as the type, you'll see a drop-down list with predefined values in the Attribute values field.

To ensure that you can reserve and release sales order lines with exact batch numbers, you'll need to repeat these steps for all other batch numbers.

Fortunately, there's a feature that can help you achieve this: Flexible warehouse-level dimension reservation. To enable it, navigate to System administration / Workplaces / Feature management and search for the feature called Flexible warehouse-level dimension reservation.

When it's enabled, you'll see a new field called Allow reservation on demand in the Reservation hierarchy, which you can select on a Batch number level to use Batch reservation even when operating with a batch number below location.

Purchasing and Receiving Active Ingredients is a crucial process that requires attention to detail. You can purchase items from an approved supplier with a specific active ingredient, and it may be necessary to track its potency at a specific value.

As you receive the item batch, you'll enter the batch attribute value along with the vendor batch details. This information will be used to alter the unit price and net amounts based on the potency value of the batch.

Purchase prices for active ingredient purity or potency can be maintained in the attribute-based pricing details section. This ensures that the pricing is accurate and reflects the actual value of the item.

You can view the different batches in inventory with specific batch attributes in the Batch Tracking screen. This allows you to easily track and manage your inventory.

If one of the batch attributes has a type of Enumerate, you will see a drop-down list with earlier predefined values in the Attribute values section. This is seen in Example 2, where the Paint thickness batch attribute has a drop-down list with earlier predefined values.

To enable the feature that allows you to reserve and release to warehouse sales order lines with exact batch numbers, you need to navigate to System administration / Workspaces / Feature management and search for the feature called Flexible warehouse-level dimension reservation. When this feature is enabled, you will see a new field called Allow reservation on demand in the Reservation hierarchy.

You can either check batch by batch or use the Batch attribute search option, which is more convenient, especially when you have multiple batch numbers on stock. The Batch attribute search allows you to apply a query using batch attributes that you assigned to your product.

You can limit the list of presented batch numbers in the Overview section to those that meet your criteria by specifying minimum and maximum values and clicking OK. This is especially useful when dealing with recurring requirements.

If you frequently search for specific batch attributes, you can save the attributes query as a template using the "Save template" option. Next time, you can quickly load the template using the "Get template" option.

Remember, even though you've limited the list of batch numbers, you still need to manually enter the quantity in the Reservation field when making a reservation.

Developers can create a batch job without sending in any parameters, but this means the values in the parameter table will affect all instances of the batch job.

Multiple instances of the batch job can be set up at the same time to process different pieces of data. This allows you to have different recurrence for each instance if desired.

By adding D365 SysOperation Framework parameters, users can change what data is processed each time they set up and run the job.
