Activities
Compagnie générale transaérienne, or CGT, was a pioneering airline that offered a range of activities beyond just flying.
CGT built facilities for creating hydrogen gas at Nancy and Beauval, where they flew the dirigible Ville-de-Nancy at the 1909 Exposition Internationale de l'Est de la France.

They also operated rigid airships made by Société Astra to fly in France and Switzerland, and started offering seaplane service on lakes Lucerne and Geneva.
CGT's seaplane service was a novelty at the time, and it's interesting to think about how this mode of transportation must have been a thrilling experience for passengers.
On 12 April 1911, Pierre Prier made the first non-stop flight from Paris to London, flying a Blériot monoplane with a 50-horsepower Gnome engine.
This flight took three hours and fifty-six minutes, a remarkable achievement for its time.
CGT began weekly return flights between London and Paris from April to October each year, carrying mail and small items like catalogs and machinery.
Their flights were a major innovation in transportation, and paved the way for future airlines.
On 22 March 1913, CGT started the world's first scheduled passenger-carrying fixed-wing flights, operating at least one Astra CM Hydro-avion from Cannes to Nice.
This service was a significant milestone in the development of modern air travel.
