China Aviation Supplies Holding Company (CAS) has signed a General Terms Agreement (GTA) with Airbus for 140 aircraft, consisting of 100 A320 Family aircraft and 40 A350 XWB Family aircraft.
The GTA was signed in Berlin by Tom Enders, Airbus CEO, and Sun Bo, Executive Vice President of CAS, in the presence of visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
CAS has also signed a GTA for 45 A330 Family aircraft and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for options for 30 A330s with Airbus.
The in-service Airbus fleet with Chinese operators totaled some 1,440 aircraft, of which nearly 1,230 are A320 Family planes, by the end of May 2017.
China is set to become the world's largest domestic air traffic market, and CAS has been a key player in supporting the development and growth of China's civil aviation.
The A320 Family is the world's best-selling single aisle product line, with over 13,000 orders and more than 7,600 aircraft delivered to some 400 customers and operators worldwide.
The A350 XWB has received valuable endorsements from several Chinese customers, who appreciate its unrivalled operational performance and cabin comfort.
At present, the in-service Airbus fleet with Chinese operators comprises over 1,150 aircraft, including over 980 A320 Family aircraft, over 150 A330 Family aircraft, and five A380s.
CAS was established in October 2002 and has since become a world-class enterprise with international competitiveness, offering aircraft procurement and support services on aviation supplies.
