BCBS OSF Coverage
OSF HealthCare has a multi-year agreement with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) to ensure patients have in-network access to care at its hospitals.
This agreement is effective immediately and retroactive to February 1, 2018, when OSF took over operations of Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana and Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville from Presence Health. Any patient who received care between February 1st and today at either of the hospitals will have in-network care reflected in their accounts.
OSF HealthCare has completed agreements with more than 30 insurance products with payers covering employer, individual, Medicare Advantage, and Managed Medicaid plans, including BCBSIL.

Reported Outcomes
The BCBS OSF Coverage partnership has shown promising results in improving patient care and reducing costs. By focusing on value-based care delivery models, the ACO has been able to transform the way physicians and hospitals coordinate and deliver patient care.
The ACO aims to reward physicians for managing costs and quality simultaneously, moving the health care system from a fee-for-service volume approach to a fee-for-value payment model. This approach has led to improved clinical outcomes for patients.
OSF is one of the largest health care systems in Illinois, serving over 3.5 million people. The ACO agreement covers nearly 40,000 OSF patients and BCBSIL members.
The partnership has been successful in reducing medical costs, with a six percent reduction in the medical cost trend over the first three years of the ACO agreement. This is compared to the rest of the BCBSIL PPO population in the market.
Lower readmission rates are just one of the improved clinical outcomes for patients.

OSF to Offer Cross and Shield of Illinois Coverage
OSF HealthCare will be offering its nearly 24,000 Mission Partners coverage from Illinois' largest homegrown health insurer, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) starting in January.
This new agreement builds on the dedication of both BCBSIL and OSF HealthCare to help people live their healthiest lives while working to improve health care quality and lower costs.
OSF HealthCare has been recognized by Blue Cross and Blue Shield for doing work to improve quality and safety, earning several honors including Blue Distinction Total Care.
Bob Sehring, CEO of OSF HealthCare, stated that it's essential to partner with like-minded organizations who focus on the communities they serve, as it is OSF's mission to serve with the greatest care and love.
Steve Hamman, president of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, emphasized that they are committed to working on behalf of their employer group customers and members to provide increased access to quality, affordable healthcare.

OSF HealthCare will provide quality health care benefit options to its Mission Partners, helping them deliver the best care possible to their patients.
OSF HealthCare Insurance Options
OSF HealthCare has reached an agreement with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois to keep their hospitals in-network, ensuring patients have access to the treatments and services they need.
The agreement includes all BCBSIL Commercial, PPO, EPO, and Blue Choice products that were previously terminated, and it's a multi-year deal.
OSF HealthCare's hospitals and services will continue to be in-network, which is a relief for patients and families who were worried about changes to their healthcare patterns.
Consumers should note that if their employer has changed their insurance options or benefit plans, they may need to talk to their employer about those changes.
OSF HealthCare's non-hospital providers were not affected by the Blue Cross decision, and other UnityPoint Health providers were already in arrangements to accept Blue Cross.
OSF HealthCare will offer Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois coverage to its nearly 24,000 employees starting in January.
