Early Life

Andreas Jacobs was born in October 1963 in Bremen, West Germany.

His father, Klaus J. Jacobs, was the main heir and controlling shareholder of Jacobs, a company founded in 1895 by Johann Jacobs.

Andreas has an elder brother named Christian, born in 1962.

Their parents divorced in 1973, and their father remarried to Renata Jacobs, a philanthropist from Zürich, who had four children of her own with Klaus: Lavinia, Nicolas, Philippe, and Nathalie.

Andreas studied law at the Universities of Freiburg im Breisgau, Munich, and Montpellier.

He obtained a Doctor of Law from the University of Freiburg.

After that, he earned an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.

Andreas Jacobs has been an independent entrepreneur since 1992, with a stake in several companies and minority interests in others. He has been responsible for the family business in Switzerland since 2000.

As a seasoned entrepreneur, Jacobs has held various leadership positions in several companies. He was chairman of Barry Callebaut AG from 2005 to 2016 and executive chairman of Jacobs Holding AG from 2004 to 2015.

Jacobs' experience in entrepreneurship extends beyond his family business. He was also chairman of Infront Sports & Media AG until 2011 and chairman of Brach's Inc. from 2000 until 2004.

In addition to his business ventures, Jacobs is also involved in various charitable organizations. The Jacobs Foundation, which is largely incorporated in his family's net worth, is the 1st wealthiest Swiss charitable organization and 27th wealthiest charitable foundation in the world in 2020.

As a member of the board of various companies, Jacobs has gained valuable experience in governance and leadership. He has been a member of the board of Adecco SA since May 2006 and a member of the advisory board of August Oetker KG.

In 2015, Jacobs co-founded GENUI Partners, an investment company based in Germany, where he advises several investments.

Infront now has over 500 employees across the group and 23 offices in 10 countries, with successful partnerships based on high standards of delivery.

Dr. Jacobs stated that Robert's legacy is Infront's current position of strength, and the company will do everything to remain financially sound in the years to come.

The company's Board of Directors has initiated a process to identify an experienced and highly committed figure to replace Robert on the board, taking great care in making this important decision.

Robert Louis-Dreyfus re-organised his financial participation in the company well in advance of his death, ensuring continuity in Infront's financial backing.

Philippe Blatter, Infront's President & CEO, commented that without Robert Louis-Dreyfus' key role in the creation and leadership of Infront, the company would not be as successful as it is today.

Leadership Change

Andreas Jacobs' leadership change came after he took over as CEO of Barry Callebaut in 2007. He was appointed to the position at the age of 32, making him one of the youngest CEOs in the company's history.

As a result of his leadership, Barry Callebaut's revenue increased from $1.8 billion to $4.1 billion. This significant growth was a major accomplishment during Jacobs' tenure.

Jacobs' leadership style emphasized innovation and sustainability. He implemented a number of initiatives aimed at reducing the company's environmental footprint and improving its social responsibility.
