SOFTBALL LEAGUE RULES AND REGULATIONS

JUNIORS

 

1.  The infield fly rule is in play.

2.  All teams must bat all players in order (round robin).

3.  Bunting is allowed.

4.  Stealing of bases is allowed.  Runners must stay on base until the ball leaves

     the pitcher's hand.  Runners may advance past 1st base on a walk per A.S.A.

     rules.  See the A.S.A. rules for further clarification.

5.  Ptichers may pitch a maximum of 5 innings/game (in any order) or a total of

     ten innings in a calendar week.  Violations of this rule will be addressed as

     an ineligible player.  The pitching distance is 40 feet.

6.  Games will be 7 innings.  The international tie-breaker rule shall be used to

     break a tie.  No inning shall start after 8:30 p.m.  on the umpire's watch.

7.  Teams will field ten players on defense, four of which must play the outfield.

8.  If one team is ahead by 15 or more runs, the game will be called at the end

     of the 5th inning or any completed inning thereafter.

9.  The dropped 3rd strike rule is allowed per A.S.A. rule.

10. If a pitcher hits a batter or batters 4 times in an inning or 5 times in a game,

      the pitcher must be removed from the mound.  The batter must attempt to

     get out of the way.  If an umpire believes a pitcher has become a danger to

     other players, she may be removed at any time.  It is the umpire's call.

11. Juniors is a uniformed leagues.  Issued uniforms must be worn to be

      considered a legal player.

12. Playing time of 3 innings on defense and once at bat shall be the minimum

       playing time for each player (per C.G.A.A. General Rules All Sports).

13. For innings 1 through 5 of the game, the team leading can score a maximum

      of 8 runs per inning, or until 3 outs are made, whichever occurs first.  The

      team that is behind can score runs until they are a maximum of 8 runs ahead

      or until 3 outs are made, whichever occurs first.  There is no limitation after

      the 5th inning.
